History of the Volkswagen Group company
The history of the Volkswagen company began in the 1930s, when the German authorities ordered a new car model for a broad consumer market. This challenge was accepted by car engineer Ferdinand Porsche, who with his team started to develop a new car, later named "Garbus". However, during the Second World War, the Volkswagen factory was used for war industrial purposes and since 1945, it has been closed. These models became extremely popular, especially the "Beetle" model, whose global sales volume reached 21.5 million cars. From the 1960s, the Volkswagen factory began to produce increasingly larger and more powerful cars, such as the Golf, which became very popular throughout Europe, and the Polo, which was aimed at the smaller and more economical car market. Volkswagen was an innovative car manufacturer that started using diesel engines already in the 1970s. Diesel engines were very efficient and had low CO2 emissions, which was extremely important in terms of environmental standards. However, in 2015, the Volkswagen company experienced a huge scandal when it was discovered that their cars had been fitted with falsified emissions test data. It caused a great response and criticism all over the world. Volkswagen has taken responsibility for its actions and taken the necessary steps to restore its reputation and minimize the damage caused. Since then, Volkswagen has focused its efforts on the development of electric cars and has become one of the leading car manufacturers in this field. They started to produce a new electric car "Volkswagen ID.3", which attracted quite a lot of interest.
